Hi guys,
since I bought this WGS to place in a cabinet I build, I got addicted to WGS, a company I did not know before.
First, the build quality is awesome. the chassis is very neat and solid, and the magnet is very big and heavy. The membrane is of high quality and all this indicates a good sound.
When I first plugged it in, it did not take very long to be worn in. Then, it was simply overwhelming, the sound blew me away.
In clean, it is very precise, going low and the heights are impressive. the sounds in clean have a light crunchy touch, but wouah, its fantastic. its perfect for many styles including funk and jazz.
In crunch and heavy distortion, the sound is very equilibrated, precise, rapid in response. and of course loud.
All in all, I'm addicted and I ordered a new WGS to replace my Celestion in my Fender Amp, as the Celestion just sounded so poor after testing the WGS.
My opinion is that WGS is much better than Celestion in build and sound quality. WGS clearly aligns its sounds to Celestion, but the sound spectrum is larger and much preciser. Though WGS brings also a new touch, a more modern sound. So if you seek a sound more of the 70s, with lack of low and heights, maybe Celestion is a better sound. But WGS covers it all without completly copying it.
As a jazz and rock musician, loving 70s sound but also seeking a high quality modern sound, WGS is my choice. This new company needs to be known better, for sure! - Product:
